The winter garden - 2

In a previous article called " The winter garden", I shared how a visit to a British National Trust garden one frosty morning in December had convinced me to delay cutting back the spent foliage of summer. That decision proved to be a good one.

A couple of days after Christmas, a heavy frost transformed our own garden into a magical sight. Even if we only get a couple of mornings like that one, the experience is most worthwhile. In addition to providing a winter show, the spent foliage is also providing some small measure of protection to the plants against the cold. Here are a few photographs of our own "winter wonderland".
